All signs point to an October iPhone release

Until today I wasn’t sure when would see the next iPhone. Would it be in June like it used to be or would it be October like it was last year. Well, after today I think it’s safe to say it will be the latter.

Sign 1

During their quarterly results, Qualcom said they expect to see delays in their newest LTE capable cell chip. A chip that will most likely be used in the new iPhone.

Sign 2

Remember a few months ago when Apple reported record iPhone sales for their holiday quarter? I see no reason why they would not want to have a new iPhone released during that time again. It clearly equals tens of billions of dollars.

Sign 3

The iPhone 4S was released in October of last year. They don’t need to release a new iPhone before the current one has been available for 12 months. They are still selling more smart phones than any other smartphone combined.

So there you have it. Don’t expect to see the new iPhone until October. Which begs the question: what will we see at WWDC in June? My prediction is that we will see a preview of Mountain Lion and new MacBook Pros that look like MacBook Airs. Say goodbye to you cd drives, folks.

Oh, and the new iPhone will be called exactly that. Not iPhone 5 or iPhone 6, but simply (the new) iPhone.

Ignoring the slight poke at my girl, Taylor Swift, this is very enjoyable. I hope this becomes a regular segment.

I did not think this was possible, but I think I love Zooey even more now.
